How can I get a deeper sound from my bass amp?
I have a Marshall MB Series B 15 bass amp. My sound is pretty light, not like a deep thumping sound you can feel. Can someone tell me what to adjust the knobs to or post a pic/link what they can look like?
There are certain physics in play here. To get a deep thumping sound, you have to move a lot of air. That means a lot of power and a lot of speaker cone area.
You can improve things a bit by turning up the Bass control, and turning down the Voice (which I’m assuming is a midrange control). Using the modern channel, turning on the compressor, and adjusting it about 1/2 way will help bring up the lows a bit as well.
But, the bottom line is this. You have 15 watts and an 8 inch speaker. It’s not going to put out a sound you can “feel”, regardless of how you adjust it.
You’re going to need a few hundred watts, and at least a 15″ speaker before you’re going to start getting any kind of real low frequency information out of your rig.
My rig when I was playing bass full time was two 1-18″ cabinets, two 4-10″ cabinets, and about 1600 watts. That rig would move some air.
